Services & Fees

My birth package is $450.00 and includes the following…

Prenatal Meetings

  • First FREE consultation meeting to review services and contract, with no obligation
  • At least 2 prenatal meetings

During these meeting we will discuss your birth plan and birth choices. We will get to know each other and I will become aware of your unique needs and preferences. I will provide you assistance in gathering information about your labor and your options, help you to find local resources, and help you to develop a clear, concise birth plan, if you choose to use one.

24/7 Hour On-Call Availability

  • I will be on call for you for two weeks prior to your due date to two weeks after your due date. I will answer any questions you have and I will be available to meet you once you are in labor and you feel you need me. Please note that I am will be allowed one hour to get to you once you are in labor. I usually join clients when they are in active labor and their contractions are about 5-7 minutes apart, but I will join you whenever you feel you begin to need me present.

Labor Support

During your labor I will…
  • Provide comfort measures during your labor such as massage & relaxation techniques which we will discuss during our prenatal visits
  • Encourage nutrition and fluids in early labor (for both you and your partner)
  • Suggest positions for the mother when she is in labor as well as comfort strategies such as the use of a shower or birth ball
  • Provide support to your partner through suggestions on how to help you, reassurance, & encouragement
  • Provide you with my continuous presence, reassurance, & encouragement throughout your labor
  • Ensure that the father can be and remain the primary support person for the mother, if he chooses to, by giving him information and direction in how to best help the laboring mother
  • Stay with you for about one hour after the birth
  • Try to ensure the environment remain relaxing and one in which the mother can feel safe and confident
  • Provide information or explanation of medical and birth options during labor
  • Work cooperatively with the health care team
  • Take pictures or videos if desired, on my digital or your camera(s)
  • Assist with establishing initial breastfeeding and ensuring the time of infant/parent bonding that is so important

Postpartum Visit

  • It is the mother's choice whether to have this visit or not, and I leave it up to the mother to call me and schedule a time. During this visit I can help with any concerns you may have about breastfeeding or your newborn. I can help you to process your birth experience. I can also help you with whatever you need at that time, whether it be to cook you a meal, hold your baby while you take a shower, run an errand, or do light housework.
Your prenatal visits and optional postpartum visit will usually last about one hour.

It is important to note…

A doula does not provide any clinical care, including cervical exams and fetal heart monitoring. She is not present as medical staff, but rather as an educated, trained, objective, and caring support for the mother. It is also important to note that the doula cannot and will not make choices concerning the birth for the mother. She is simply to ensure that the mother and father make choices with the most information possible.

My Fees:

My Fee is $450.00

Half of the fee ($225.00) is due when you retain my services. This will hold your due date on my calendar & will pay for the prenatal support I provide and on call services that I provide.

I ask that the remainder of the fee is to be given in a check, on the day that you retain my services, dated for the client’s due date. This check will NOT be cashed by the doula until the birth day.

We go over this further before signing a contract.

How are refunds handled?

If I do not provide the services listed in the contract, you will receive a full refund. If an emergency occurs, and I am unable to attend your birth, and the back up doula is also unexpectedly unavailable, I will retain only the first half of the fees to cover the prenatal visits and oncall time. If you fail to notify me of the onset of labor, in the case of a rapid labor, scheduled caesarean section, or refusal of hospital personnel to allow my participation you will retain one-half of the total fee. If a backup is called in, she will retain one-half of the total fee.

What if I cannot afford to pay you that amount?

It is my desire that every pregnant woman who wishes to have a Doula should be able to have one. Payment plans and fees are negotiable depending on the circumstances. Let’s talk!
